Why We Write: The Meaning & Purpose Behind Our Blogs

Why we write them, who they’re for, and how to use them.

Boston Institute for Meaningful Purpose

At the Boston Institute for Meaningful Purpose, our blog is more than a collection of articles—it is an open learning space grounded in a clear mission: advancing the scientific study and practical application of meaningful purpose in life, work, and society.

The Institute serves as an epicenter for logoteleological research and education—also known as Meaningful Purpose Psychology (MPP). That means our content reflects an active, evolving science. We study meaning, test ideas, refine methods, and share what we learn as our understanding grows. Our blogs are one of the primary ways we do that.

What you’ll find here

Our blog content generally falls into three complementary categories:

1. Research-informed articles

Some of our articles explore theories, models, and methods that stem directly from logoteleological research and creative thinking. These pieces may feel more technical or psychological because science requires precision. When a concept matters, we name it clearly and explain it accurately.

2. Plain-language, practical insights

We are equally committed to serving readers who are curious about meaning and purpose but are not trained psychologists. Many of our articles translate complex ideas into accessible language, focusing on everyday life, leadership, relationships, work, and personal growth. The goal is clarity without dilution.

3. Multimedia learning options

Not everyone learns best by reading. That’s why we also publish short videos and podcasts that explore logoteleological ideas in conversation. Some of these cover the same topics as our written articles—by design—so you can choose the format that works best for you. Listening can sometimes unlock understanding in ways reading does not, and vice versa.

Why some content is technical—and why that matters

Meaningful Purpose Psychology is a science. Like any serious discipline, it requires careful definitions, tested assumptions, and evolving frameworks. Avoiding technical language altogether would weaken the work and distort its conclusions.

That said, we are intentional about balance. When we go deep, we aim to do so with transparency. When we simplify, we do so without compromising integrity. Both audiences matter—and many readers move between them over time.

Learning opportunities beyond the blog

Our blog also serves as a gateway to deeper learning. You’ll often see references to workshops, laboratories, programs, or practitioner pathways connected to the topics we discuss. These are not afterthoughts—they are extensions of the same commitment to understanding and living with meaningful purpose.

A living conversation

Finally, this blog is not meant to be a one-way broadcast. We welcome thoughtful feedback, questions, and suggestions. If there are ways we can make this space more relevant, clearer, or more useful, we want to hear from you. Meaning grows through dialogue—and so does good science.

If you’re here to explore, reflect, learn, or challenge your assumptions, you’re in the right place.

Thank you for investing in learning why we write about meaning and in your development with Meaningful Purpose Psychology!

The Path to a Meaningful Purpose
Meaningful Purpose book

Part scholarly psychological research, part self-improvement book, The Path to a Meaningful Purpose helps you answer four existential questions:

  • Who am I?

  • What matters in life?

  • Why am I here?

  • How do I successfully fulfill my life purpose?

Author Luis A. Marrero uses psychology to help you understand the meaning and purpose of your life and how to succeed.

Marrero introduces the foundations of a new movement: Logoteleology.

What is my meaning, what is my purpose? How are they different? Why do these matter? What can I do to make my life more meaningful? Is purpose something we discover, or something we create? How does meaning play a role in being successful in life?

Logoteleology, also known as Meaningful Purpose Psychology, or, more simply, MP, provides the foundation and understanding needed to answer these and other life-defining questions we all encounter in some way each day in our personal and professional lives.

This book explores the basics of meaning, purpose, and motivation, and ways to connect to them in life, as well as for those who coach and guide others.
