It Starts With a Paradox
We do not suffer for lack of answers. We suffer despite answers being all around us.
Luis A. Marrero, M.A., RODP, in Boston, Massachusetts, founded the Boston Institute for Meaningful Purpose in 1986. The original name was The Boston Institute for the Applied Behavioral Sciences. Our mission started with research, publishing articles on the applied social sciences, and training professionals to practice Organization Development. Since then we have provided OD consulting to global companies and entities. Over the years we have broadened our offerings to include coaching and assessment services as well.
Following the publication of Luis’ first book, The Path to a Meaningful Purpose: Psychological Foundations of Logoteleology, our name was changed to the Boston Institute for Meaningful Purpose. This change is meant to reflect our updated mission to further the work of meaningful purpose psychology (MP) in a variety of ways. In addition to continuing to provide coaching, consulting, and training services as we have since our original charter, we've expanded our catalogue to offer speaking engagements, further publications, and coming soon digital learning and training opportunities as well. In addition to The Path to a Meaningful Purpose, Luis Marrero and Daniel Persuitte, the partners leading the Boston Institute of Meaningful Purpose, coauthored a work titled Meaningful Purpose: A Primer in Logoteleology. This was published in May of 2022 and provides an great overview of the concepts and methods of MP, reflection and practice exercises, and examples of MP in action.
The mission of meaningful purpose psychology is twofold: First, to understand the factors that enable and prevent individuals, groups, and organizations from making meaningful choices. Second, to foster the selection of meaningful options over meaningless alternatives.
To meet these ends we are in the process of boosting our development services by adding these digital learning options to reach more people virtually, enabling those who wish to engage with MP remotely an option to do so.
The Boston Institute for Meaningful Purpose is dedicated to promoting meaningful purpose psychology globally. Our coaching practice, workshops, trainings, and laboratories are facilitated by certified and licensed logoteleologists. Additionally, our organizational development consultants are well versed in logoteleological methods.
Finally, we are also invested in helping firms who wish to increase employee engagement through meaningful purpose psychology coaching and training. Our research and partnerships with professional psychological associations, commerce, and industry are oriented to promote best practices for success, based on sound and promising theory and empirical research. Please contact us if you’d like to discuss options for working together.
